Most thyroid care tracks one number, TSH. When it falls in range, you are often told you are fine, even when you are exhausted, foggy, and cold. Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition, where the immune system attacks the thyroid. The markers that show that process, your thyroid antibodies, are frequently never measured. Free T4 and free T3 add more of the picture. One number cannot capture an autoimmune disease. If you feel unwell while your labs read normal, you are not imagining it, and you are not alone.
