Gluten-free diet

MixedStudies point in different directions.

Celiac disease occurs more often in people with Hashimoto's, and the two share genetics. If you have celiac, a strict gluten-free diet is essential. That is why screening for celiac comes first. For Hashimoto's without celiac, the evidence is mixed. Some people report improvement, others notice nothing. A careful trial can be reasonable, but gluten-free is not a proven cure for the disease itself.
